This activity has 5 levels that increase the number of image choices:

Level Image Options Example
1 2 images "A for... 🍎 or 🐶?"
2 3 images Three image options
3 4 images Four image options
4 5 images Five image options
5 6 images Six image options

Gameplay Experience

  1. See the Letter: A large letter appears at the top (e.g., "A")
  2. Hear the Prompt: Jane says "A for..." with the phonetic sound
  3. Choose the Image: Tap the image card that starts with that letter
  4. Celebrate or Retry:
    • Correct: Confetti! Jane confirms "A for Apple"
    • Incorrect: Jane says what the wrong image starts with, then try again!
  5. Auto-advance: After success, moves to the next letter

Tip: Tap on the letter to hear its sound again.

Learning Objectives

  • Phonics: Connecting letter sounds with beginning sounds of words
  • Letter Recognition: Identifying letters visually
  • Vocabulary: Learning animal and fruit names
  • Visual Discrimination: Identifying the correct image among options
  • Focus: Selecting from multiple options

Progress Tracking

Each activity session is tracked with:

  • The letter shown
  • The correct target image
  • All image options presented
  • The answer your child selected
  • Whether they got it correct
  • Number of attempts

Sound On?

Essential! This activity relies heavily on audio:

  • Phonetic sounds for the target letter
  • Word association ("A for...")
  • Feedback for both correct and incorrect answers

The phonetic prompts are critical for making the sound-image connection.
