Is My Child Ready For This Activity?
Your child is ready when they can recognize letters and their sounds. This builds on Place the Letters skills.
Levels & Progress
This activity has 5 levels with increasing word complexity:

Gameplay Experience
- See the Word: Letter tiles appear spelling a word (e.g., "C-A-T")
- Hear the Prompt: Jane asks "Can you read this?"
- Tap Letters in Order: Tap each letter from left to right
- Hear the Sounds: Each letter's phonetic sound plays when tapped
- Watch Progress: Tapped letters highlight in yellow

Complete the Word: After all letters are tapped:
- 🎉 Confetti celebration
- An image of the word appears
- The full word is spoken
Special Features:
- Digraphs: Consecutive same-sounding characters (like "oo" in "look") are highlighted together
- Read Button: Tap "Read" to hear the word read out phonetically
- Syllable Markers: Some words show syllable divisions
Visual Feedback:
- ⬜ White: Letter not yet tapped
- 🟨 Yellow: Letter has been tapped
- Color-coded twins: Same letters in different colors for visibility
Letter & Sound Hints (Augmentations):
Some letters and letter combinations display emoji hints above them. These visual cues help children associate sounds with familiar objects:
