Frequently Asked Questions

Under 4 Games is an educational app designed specifically for children ages 1-4 years old. It offers a collection of interactive activities that help toddlers and preschoolers learn to count, read, listen, spell, and solve problems through purposeful play. Each activity is carefully crafted to respect how young children actually learn — through exploration, repetition, and joy.
Under 4 Games is designed for children aged 1-4 years old, though many activities can benefit children up to age 6. The activities have multiple difficulty levels that grow with your child, so they can continue learning as they develop new skills.
We recommend 15 minutes of daily practice for optimal learning. This aligns with pediatric guidelines for purposeful screen time. Our activities are designed to be educational and engaging without being overly stimulating or addictive.
Absolutely! Under 4 Games is completely ad-free and contains no in-app purchases that children can accidentally trigger. There are no external links that could lead children away from the app, and all content is age-appropriate and carefully curated.

Under 4 Games covers six core learning areas:

  • Listening — Following instructions and auditory comprehension
  • Reading — Letter recognition, phonics, and early reading skills
  • Writing — Fine motor control and letter formation
  • Math — Numbers 1-100, counting, addition, and number comparison
  • Logic — Pattern matching, sequencing, and problem-solving
  • Fun — Creative expression and free exploration
We use a multi-sensory approach to phonics. Children hear letter sounds through our Phonics Keypad, connect sounds to images with Image to Letter Matching, and reinforce learning by finding images that start with specific letters via Letter to Image Matching. The phonetic sound is always emphasized before the word (e.g., "D... D... Dog") to build strong sound-symbol connections.
Learning starts with tapping! In Tap to Count, children tap objects and hear the running total, building a physical connection to numbers. Once they can count, they move to Addition — tapping blocks to add numbers together. We also teach number comparison with Find the Biggest and Find the Smallest, visualizing numbers as blocks to help children see that 8 is bigger than 6.
Yes! The Place the Letters activity teaches spelling by having children drag letter tiles into slots while hearing each letter's sound. Words progress from 2 letters to 6 letters, so by the time they reach "RABBIT" or "FLOWER," they've internalized the spelling process.
Activities like Free Draw and Letter Tracing help develop fine motor control — the ability to make your hand do what your brain intends. Letter Tracing teaches the building blocks of writing (Down, Across, Circle, Curves) before combining them into letters. These activities are also printable for offline practice!

Under 4 Games includes 20+ educational activities:

Flow mode is our guided learning feature. When you press the Play button on a course, activities are presented in a thoughtful sequence that builds on previous skills. It's a great way to learn without being too repetitive, but you can always explore specific activities by clicking on them directly.
Yes! Under 4 Games includes progress tracking so you can see what activities your child has completed and how they're improving over time. You'll receive daily learning recommendations based on their progress, and you can celebrate their achievements together.
Yes! You can create up to 4 separate child profiles, allowing them to have their own personalized learning journey and progress tracking. Each child's recommendations and achievements are tracked independently.
Some activities such as Letter Tracing and Free Draw can be printed as physical worksheets for practice away from screens or evidence of learning. This is great for reinforcing learning and developing pencil grip and writing skills.
Under 4 Games works on smartphones, tablets, and computers. It's a web-based app that can also be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA) for an app-like experience. This means you can use it on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and any device with a modern web browser.
Once installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA), many features work offline. However, for the best experience and access to all activities, we recommend an internet connection. Audio features require proper browser support for speech synthesis.
Under 4 Games uses text-to-speech technology to read instructions, letter sounds, and words aloud. This is essential for learning phonics and following activity instructions. We never record or store any audio from your device.

Under 4 Games does not offer a free trial but the blog articles have preview activities you can explore before subscribing.

A subscription provides unlimited access to all activities, progress tracking, daily recommendations, and new features as they're released.

We offer flexible subscription options including monthly and annual plans, as well as a lifetime access option for families who want permanent access. All plans include access to every activity and feature.

Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time. Your access will continue until the end of your current billing period. We believe in providing value, not trapping families in subscriptions they don't want.
